What is Botox?
Botox is a trade name, held by Allergen, for their Botolinum Toxin, a protein and neurotoxin mix. The protein is utilised in a cosmetic manner to relax muscles when treating wrinkles. This form of treatment is needed because as people get older, the skin loses elasticity and wrinkles appear. Botox, when applied correctly, is a highly effective form of treatment as it subtly manages the appearance of wrinkles and lines on the face. It also ensures that new lines aren’t formed resulting in smooth, youthful looking skin. One of the best things about Dermacia's Botox treatment is that it involves no time at all and it can be carried out during your normal day with no impact on your normal routine. All you have to do is pop in to our North London beauty salon for your quick and easy aesthetic treatment with Botox. If you would like a personal consultation or to book an appointment, get in touch with Dermacia Pharmacy and we’ll be happy to help.
What does the treatment involve?
We target the affected areas and with a tiny needle, we inject minimal amounts of Botulinum Toxin. This acts to stop the impulses from the nerves reaching the facial muscles, which helps to minimise the contractions that lead to wrinkles being formed. After the treatment has been concluded, the skin over these muscles will appear smooth and even, giving you a fresh, youthful appearance.
Does this treatment hurt?
No. There is no need for sedation, a local anaesthesia is used and as the needle is fine and the amount is small, there is a minimal level of pain.
How long does the treatment take?
The standard level of treatment is complete in 15 minutes, so you can have this treatment and then return to work or carry on with your day without disruption.
How quickly do results appear?
Improvements can be seen in as short a time as two to three days and the overall effects and impact of Botox will be noticeable inside a week.
How long will the results last?
This treatment can have an effect that will last for anything from between three to six months. This is the time when you should look to make a follow up appointment for further treatment. Studies and research indicates that the treatment provides a cumulative effect for users, which means that over time you will need a fewer amount of injections.
Should I be concerned about side effects?
Given that minimal amounts of Botulinum Toxin are used, the treatment is not sore or invasive. The only side effects you need to be aware of include temporary localised bruising and a slight swelling which occurs at the point of injection and redness of the skin.
